Name: Actraiser
System: Super Nintendo
Description: You play as a god who has returned to Earth to find it swarming with monsters, the people barely clinging to life as they are being endlessly attacked. Your job is to destroy the montsters and help the people to rebuild their cities and increase their population.
Graphics: The graphics are ok (the fight scenes having better graphics than the town scenes). I don't quite have a game to compare it to just yet.
Music: The music is ok as well, not the best but not poor, and sometimes annoying as any Snes game goes. The sound effects are the same.
Controls: The controls are easy to get once you understand them. In the fight scenes, B for jump and Y for attack, A uses your spell once you get one. In the city scenes, a menu to the left can be easily accessed with the B button, and you can do all of your controls from there.
Gameplay: The game is a split between a side scroll action game and a Sim/RPG type game. I find that the action part is hard because you don't get much life (you're a god, but you don't have enough life), but the more you help your cities develope the more experience you get and therefore the more life you have, just like in any RPG. In the city scenes, you watch from atop your flying citadel, and an angel does your bidding for you. You have various weather impliments to help you, such as lightning, rain, sun, wind and earthquake. The people offer you things that help along the way, more spells and things that they have learned that you can teach to other cities. Basically, they worship you.

Name: Dynamite Headdy
System: Sega Genesis
Description: This is by far the best Sega game that I have ever played. You play as Dynamite Headdy, a strange looking puppet that uses his own head as a weapon. He has an arsenal of different heads to chose from as he battles various puppet baddies and travels through what looks like a stage show. The game is very fun and very pretty.
Graphics: This game uses everything that Genesis has to offer. The characters and enemies are beautiful, and there are some of the sweetest backgrounds that I have ever seen on any system. The actions and movement of everything (the background too) is very smooth and liquid. People should use this game as an example when they plan their graphics.
Music: The music for this game is very good, ranging from orchestration to funky techno. The sound effects are also very good, and there are some speech impliments for various characters and Headdy himself (a rare item on Genesis).
Controls: The controls for this game are very simple. C for jump and B to throw your head around. It is not as easy as it sounds however, because you can throw your head in any direction, including all diagonals. If you play this game using a keyboard, you may have quite a time, because you have to press both directional buttons at once and then press B to throw, which can be quite a challenge to do quickly. Once you get the hang of it though, it's easy to play and always fun to watch his head smack into solid objects.
Gameplay: If there was one word that I could use to describe this game it would be "original." Very very original indeed, not just for Headdy, but everything you see is original, and strange as well. You will always see something surprising the more you get into the game. It is a simple 2D game, like Mario and Sonic, and you battle various baddies and bosses to make your way forward. This is my favorite kind of game, simple and eye pleasing, yet with some difficulty.

Name: Harvest Moon
System: Super Nintendo
Description: In this game you play a young farmer who has inherited a ranch from his parents. The idea is simple: raise crops and animals, tend the farm, and eventually find a wife. Don't let the description fool you, however. If you are a fan of Sim games like I am, I am pretty sure that you will like this game.
Graphics: For Snes, this game has pretty good graphics. It reminds me of Zelda 4: Link to the Past because objects are smooth and colorful, and the overhead view like Zelda 4 makes this game attractive and easy to manipulate.
Music: The music is cheerful, but sometimes annoying if you don't like that sort of thing. There is a different song for each season of the year and different towns. The sound effects are ok as well. (It's Snes, what are you gonna do?) There are normal sounds to the game such as jump (always an annoying sound since the early Mario days) and run, as well as various tool sounds and always that sound that comes when you talk to someone.
Controls: The controls of this game are pretty simple. There is the action button (A) for talking and picking up things, the B button is used for running, X for selecting your tool, and Y for using your tool. When you get different animals, like the dog and the horse, the R and L buttons will call them. Select lets you see what day it is, what time it is, and how much money you have.
Gameplay: As dumb as this game may sound, it is quite addictive. (I've been hooked since I got it.) I suggest you try it if you are a fan of Sim games, especially if you liked Sim Farm or Sim Ant. Even if you aren't a Sim fan, it is worth a play...you may get a laugh out of it.
